Blog Journal 5

I had never seen or heard about the program Diigo before. When Lukas first introduced it, I was a little confused about the purpose of it and the Chrome Extension but once we started using it, I understood what it was for and why he introduced it. Because I didn't exactly know how to use Diigo, I didn't get much use out of it, but now, I think it can be quite useful. I like the how you can bookmark and save articles and have access to them across all lot of different software and browsers. Not only saving the articles, but you can also annotate them and save them as PDFs and be able to share them with others. I also like that it is a Chrome extension. As a Chrome user, I think the extension is easily used and accessible.

Blogging so far has been interesting. I have never used a blog or anything like it before for a class but I think it is a unique way to talk about thoughts and ideas about concepts from class. The instructor, other peers, and even the public can read your blog entries and get a perspective into what you're thinking. The platform that we use, Blogger.com is very user-friendly and has a lot of different customization for how you want your blog to look. I went with a pre-made template because I really liked the look and the set up of it. Sometimes the blog posts sneak up on me and I forget about them, but they are enjoyable to write and aren't an assignment that I dread. I like the idea of a blog even though it can seem kind of outdated now a days compared to vlogs or Twitter but I like the idea of writing an blog.

The Web 2.0 tool that I would want to use is Class Dojo. Because I want to teacher younger children, it is a behavior system of discipline and rewards that is online and available on many platforms. The students can earn and lose Dojos due to their behavior and once earned enough, can get a reward or prize. The Dojos come in a variety of options, for example you can earn Dojos labeled "good behavior", "On Task" or lose Dojos labeled "Off-task" or "Dispruting".  You can connect it to your phone too, for more mobile access, walking around the classroom. The parents can also see how their children are performing and behaving and their total score of Dojos. I think it is a good tool because the parents can easily see their children's status and it is more positive system rather than only punishment based. https://www.classdojo.com
